Your tax dollars.
Your community.
Use Arizona’s QCO tax credit to support free mental health programs in Cochise, Graham, Greenlee and Santa Cruz counties — and pay less in state taxes.
Donate & Claim Your Credit →Your donation. Your tax credit.
When you give to NAMI Southeastern Arizona, you’re choosing exactly where some of your tax dollars go — and making a real difference for individuals and families affected by mental illness in our community. You can do this even if you don’t itemize, and you can still claim the school, foster care, and military family tax credits separately.
Here’s the Scoop!
- · Dollar-for-Dollar: For every dollar donated (up to the limit), you reduce your Arizona tax bill by the same amount.
- · Monetary Donations Only: Donations must be cash/check. Material donations do not qualify.
- · No itemizing Necessary: You can take this credit even if you do not itemize deductions on your State return.
- · Carry Forward: If your tax liability is less than your donation, you can carry forward the unused credit for up to five consecutive years.
- · Make a Cash Donation by April 15th *If you donate between January 1 and April 15 of a new year, you must decide whether to apply it to the previous year’s return or the current year’s return. · QCO Donations are entirely separate from public/private school tax credits. You can contribute to a QCO, a QFCO and schools in the same year. Your gift helps us provide vital support to individuals and families in need, and thanks to the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit, you can make a meaningful impact without spending a penny more than you already owe in taxes. It’s a powerful way to give back, and it’s easy. Let your taxes do something meaningful this year.
What’s the difference between a credit and a deduction?
Reduces your income
A $495 deduction on a $50K income reduces taxable income — saving you around $22–$50 depending on your bracket.
Reduces your actual tax bill
A $495 credit reduces what you owe by the full $495 — dollar-for-dollar off your Arizona return.

Credit Limits by Tax Year
How much can you credit?
Arizona adjusts QCO credit limits annually. The amount that applies to you depends on when you donate and which tax year you’re claiming.
No minimum donation required. Any unused credit carries forward for up to five years. You can also donate in monthly installments. Always consult your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to itemize my deductions to claim this credit?
No. Arizona’s QCO tax credit is available even if you take the standard deduction. It works independently of your federal return.
Can I still use the school, foster care, or military tax credits too?
Yes! The QCO credit is completely separate from Arizona’s school tuition, foster care (QFCO), and military family relief credits. You can claim all of them in the same tax year.
Can I donate before April 15 and apply it to last year’s taxes?
Yes. Arizona allows QCO donations made from January 1 through April 15 to be applied to the previous tax year’s return. This gives you extra flexibility at filing time.
What if my credit is larger than what I owe?
The QCO credit is nonrefundable — it can reduce your tax bill to zero, but it won’t generate a refund. However, any unused credit can be carried forward for up to five consecutive years.
Is there a minimum donation amount?
No. There is no minimum. Even a $10 donation earns a $10 credit on your Arizona return. Every dollar makes a difference — for you and for your neighbors.
Why does NAMI SEAZ qualify for this credit?
NAMI Southeastern Arizona is a certified Arizona Qualifying Charitable Organization (QCO) that provides support, education, and advocacy to individuals living with chronic mental health conditions and their families — which meets Arizona’s criteria for the credit.
